My Big Fat Greek Glendi - 2003 - A HUGE Success!!!

Our Big Fat Greek Glendi Party held May 10th, 2003 was a huge success.  All the attendees had a great time and I have even heard "If you can get my husband dancing, you know he's having fun!!"  The beautiful lights greeted our guests and the hall was transformed into a vision of Greece.  We served dinner to about 100 people who raved about how delicious and plentiful the food was.  The youth dancers from Holy Trinity added another bit of authenticity to the evening; many thanks to Tiffany Kimmel, Kristin Miologos, Kristina Papadopolous, and Angela Deligannis.

Our revenues from ticket sales, the raffle, the bar and the small trays of baklava totaled just over $3,800.  Our expenses were minimal and included food costs, the rental of the hall for 5 hours and the cost of the temporary liquor license, for a total expense of just over $400.  Our net profit of about $3,400 is truly a gift and will help us fund the "deficit" in our current operating budget.

Donations made by some in our fellowship who did not buy tickets, plus donations by Nick Fakhoury of Coco's for many food ingredients, Tom Pastis for the cans of beer, Louis Poulos for the wine, Pay-N-Take for the keg of beer, Tessie Konomos for all the dolmades, Kathy Lampros for all the spanokopeta, Terri Talent for the decorations, centerpieces, silverware, aprons, etc., Pam VanWyck for all the decorated candles and dishware, and Phil Blommendahl for handling all the music.  These gifts greatly helped us reduce our out-of-pocket expenses.  Helen Blommendahl did a great job with our raffle which brought in just under $400; the prizes were really nice.  A big thank you to Jenny Baca at the Catholic Parish for not charging us for all the hours we cooked and baked at the Church.

We are thrilled with all the help we received from everyone in our fellowship - and a big round of applause to our older youth who were so helpful with the serving and clean-up.  This was truly a community effort and that is why it was so successful.  OPA!!
